02 Jan Expectations for 2017 as a Toronto DJ
I want to start off by saying thank you to all the wonderful people that allowed Sono DJs to perform at their events and weddings. We truly enjoyed working for people that gave us a vision for the event and allowed us to have creative license with it to make it into the best event that they deserved.
For 2017, I was inspired to start off with a BANG in the Greater Toronto Area. As of today, I am well on my way to accomplishing my goals. I have made a short checklist for the benefit of myself and my clients.
- Update blog consistently
I always found excuses to not post on my blog. I held it off by saying I didn’t have enough time with work, social life, family, etc. I realized that I cannot make any more excuses, since being a professional Toronto DJ (especially in cities such as Brampton, Etobicoke, Scarborough, Vaughan, and Mississauga) is challenging. I have to be consistent with my online presence and inform my current and prospective clients of new developments and build more online relationships. I told myself that 2017 will be better.
- Experiment with music
“Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change” – Stephen Hawking.
I found this quote in 2017 and I personally think that this quote is relevant for DJs. What separates the novices from the professionals is that ability to be able to adapt to different situations. A prime example of this is that there are many factors I have to consider before we choose the perfect playlist for each event. In order to continue creating that “perfect playlist” we need to experiment with different music.
In 2017, we will expand our music library.
- Have at least 1 event per weekend
In 2016, I had about 4-6 weekends where I chose not to work. It was not because I was uninspired, I just thought it would be wise to take time off. Now in 2017, I realized that I do not want to do this anymore because I believe that I have not reached my full potential yet. I will attend and DJ at every event that can help me improve, gain awareness, and provide quality service.
Well, there you have it. Every year I aim to be better and I find that this lines up with my mindset and personal goals.
Feel free to comment or add to Sono DJs list of improvement for 2017.
